Ira Moscovice,
PhD, is Interim Division Head and Director
of the University of Minnesota Rural Health
Research Center that is funded by the
federal Office of Rural Health Policy. He is
a nationally recognized expert in rural
health policy analysis and his research
interests include quality of rural health
care, pay-for-performance models, and the
evaluation of alternative rural health care
delivery and financing systems. Currently,
he is examining quality of care and patient
safety issues in rural hospitals and the
implementation of pay-for-performance
strategies in rural hospitals. In 1992, he
was the first recipient of the National
Rural Health Association’s Distinguished
Researcher Award. In 2002, he received a
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator
Award in Health Policy Research.
