The University of Minnesota Center on Aging directs numerous research studies on the quality of care, assessing quality of life, and the relationship between acute and chronic care. Current research projects under the direction of Robert Kane, MD, Professor and Minnesota Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging, addresses the health and long-term care of older persons; the relationship between acute and chronic care; and the quality of care. Recent books published focus on health care outcomes, geriatrics, and long-term care and chronic care provision. In addition, the Center on Aging publishes monthly research abstracts summarizing the major aging and geriatric studies to help the academic and health professional communities stay informed on the latest reports that influence the care of the elderly. The major research projects and the implications they present for health care practitioners can be viewed in the sections listed to the left.
