Student Organizations The University of Minnesota offers students many opportunities to get involved with various campus organizations. Political, international, religious, and professional organizations are just a few. The Student-Staff directory (available from the bookstores; copy in department office) provides information about all campus organizations.
School of Public Health Student Senate The Student Senate is composed of one (or two) elected representative(s) from each discipline within the School of Public Health. Representatives are chosen by their classmates. The Student Senate holds monthly meetings to discuss any changes that need to be made within the School, plan seminars and social activities, make arrangements for graduation, etc.
  Objectives of Student Senate
1. To attempt to improve all aspects of graduate and professional education and social life in the School of Public Health.
2. To foster the use of the interdisciplinary approach to the solution of problems and in the engagement of social activities.
3. To act as the representative organization for the graduate and professional student body of the School of Public Health.
4. To serve on any faculty structure with full voting status when deemed necessary by the members.
5. To appoint representatives to the University of Health Science Center Organizations.
The Council of Graduate Students (COGS) COGS is a student organization whose constituency is made up of masters and Ph.D students.

Through COGS, graduate students have a voice within the University's system of shared governance. COGS initiates new policies, services, helps students navigate the bureaucracy, is a major conduit of information on issues of concern to graduate students, and is the primary means through which their voices are heard within the administration.
