The Thirteenth Annual Health Services Research
Conference will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at
the Continuing Education and Conference Center, St.
Paul Campus, University of Minnesota, St. Paul. The
purpose of this event is to bring together
Minnesota’s health services research community for a
day of scholarly presentations and discussions.
The theme of the 2009 conference is optimizing
practice through research/translational research.
All submissions are encouraged and submissions in
the area of optimizing practice through
research/translational research are particularly
encouraged.
The keynote speaker will be Lawrence W. Green,
Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
in the School of Medicine and Co-Leader of the
Social and Behavioral Sciences Program in the
Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of
California at San Francisco. Dr. Green is a past
President and Distinguished Fellow of the Society
for Public Health Education and recipient of the
American Public Health Association’s highest awards.
Dr. Green has extensive experience in developing and
evaluating interventions for health promotion and
risk reduction. He will discuss ways to optimize
practice through research, the conference theme.
This conference is held annually in the Twin Cities and presents
papers of current interest to researchers interested in health
policy and management.

The Division of Health Policy and Management sponsors two seminar
series:
- Health Services Research Seminars (HSR)
Nationally and internationally known leaders in health services
research speak on current topics. The HSR seminars are free and
open to the public.
- Work in Progress (WIP)
Work in Progress Seminars feature Division faculty, visiting
colleagues, other University faculty, students and research
staff. These seminars provide an opportunity to discuss current
work and share ideas. All are on Wednesdays, 12:15-1:15 PM, in Room
D-199 Mayo.
