Assisted Living
Since the 1990s, staff at the LTC Resource Center have been engaged in studying assisted living as a way of blending housing and services for older people who need long-term support. Funding has been received from AARP, the State of Oregon, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the State of Minnesota, the Andrus Foundation, and the Agency for Health Research & Quality.
We have a particular interest in apartment-style assisted living for persons with heavy care needs, which we evaluated in comparison to nursing homes in the State of Oregon. We also studied patterns of services in apartment-style assisted living in 6 States: Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Texas.
