Ira
Moscovice presented a paper on the Nursing
Workforce Impact on Performance Improvement in the
CMS/Premier HQID Project at the
World Health Organization (WHO) symposium on
national health workforce issues on October 14, 2009
in Neuchatel, Switzerland. The symposium included
representatives from 22 countries. Co-authors are
Gestur Davidson and Kathy Belk, from Premier. The
work was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation as part of their Interdisciplinary
Nursing Research Initiative.
The
Minnesota chapter of the
American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE)
met on October 8, 2009 for their quarterly
continuing education session. Daniel Zismer,
spoke to the group about how health market and
related policy dynamics are encouraging the
integration of community hospitals and physicians.
These emerging integrated health systems may find
themselves uniquely positioned for a “reforming"
U.S. healthcare marketplace. Dr. Zismer also noted
that the more successful integrated health systems
are those that integrate physicians as co-leaders
and co-managers of the delivery systems. He
predicted that integration will accelerate across
the U.S. and that the effects will be felt in all
regions of the country.
The Division hosted two well-attended Dialogue on
Health Care Reform sessions on September 30 and
October 7, 2009 as part of a weekly seminar series.
Speakers were Jean Abraham,
Lynn Blewett, Bryan Dowd,
Roger Feldman, Ira
Moscovice, and Robert Town.
Presentation slides can be viewed at the Division’s
Seminar Series website.
