Robert N. Mayer, Ph. D.
Hulda B. Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation
Rob Mayer has been involved
with organized philanthropy for over fifteen years. He helped
found the Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation in
Chicago, a family philanthropy of which he is both President and
a Board member. The Rothschild Foundation has as its objective,
improvement in the quality of life for elders in long term care
settings. He also is a board member and treasurer of the Nathan
Cummings Foundation in New York, an inter-generational family
philanthropy. Cummings funds programs in the arts, environment,
health care and Jewish Life.
Rob has served as Chair of the
Council on Foundations Family Foundations Conference; and on the COF nominating committee; and the COF Committee on Family
Foundations. He has been an Academic Director at the Center for
Non-Profit Management of the Northwestern University Kellogg
School of Management, as well as a member of their Advisory
Committee. A frequent speaker on a variety of issues related to
philanthropy, Rob has served as a panelist and moderator for
conferences sponsored by Independent Sector, Council on
Foundations, Donors Forum, Grantmakers in Health, Grantmakers in
Aging, and the Council of Michigan Foundations.
Prior to his involvement in the
independent sector, Rob spent fourteen years in the private
sector, where he directed the management resources function of a
Fortune 100 multi-national Corporation, and later founded a
healthcare company.
Rob serves on the board of the
Museum of Contemporary Art, the Illinois Arts Alliance, the
Donors Forum of Chicago, the Latin School of Chicago, the
American Civil War Center, and the Council for Jewish Elderly.
He holds an AB cum laude with high honors from Kenyon
College; an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago; and
a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. |
