The
Upper Midwest
Rural Health Research Center is a partnership that brings together
two centers with extensive experience in rural health research and
dissemination: the University of Minnesota Rural
Health Research Center and the
University of
North Dakota Center for Rural Health. The two centers are combining
their expertise to undertake national projects focusing on quality of
rural health care and other important rural health issues. The Upper
Midwest Rural Health Research Center is one of eight rural health
research centers in the nation funded by the Office of Rural Health
Policy. |

FLEX
MONITORING TEAM
The Rural Health Research
Centers at the Universities of Minnesota, North Carolina, and Southern
Maine, under contract with the federal Office of Rural Health Policy are
cooperatively conducting a performance monitoring project for the
Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program. The monitoring project
assesses the impact of the Flex Program on rural hospitals and
communities and the role of states in achieving overall program
objectives, including improving access to and the quality of health care
services; improving the financial performance of Critical Access
Hospitals; and engaging rural communities in health care system
development.
